Hey friends! It’s been a busy few weeks with out-of-town weddings and engagement sessions, but I’m making my way back online and I’m so excited to show you the most recent delivery to make its way to Courtney Clarke Photography; a wedding guestbook!
Before John & I got married, we didn’t have an engagement session; our wedding photographers were from Alberta and weren’t in Victoria much before our wedding day. It’s something that I’ve regretted ever since and something we plan to remedy later this summer/early fall (more on this in another blog post!). So, for our guestbook, we wanted to do something unique, but without any self-portrait style images of the two of us, I decided on 4″x6″ cards cut from scrapbook paper for our guests to write on that we planned to “put in a photo album” following the wedding. Well, that never happened. Sure, we read through our guest’s notes (most of them!), but we have yet to put them in an actual album.
With every Courtney Clarke Photography wedding collection, a complimentary engagement session is included; this somewhat stems from my regret of not having an engagement session and also from my I belief that engagement sessions really are the best way for a couple to connect with me in advance of their wedding—plus, it allows couples to have great images together in non-wedding attire too! For a while now, I’ve loved the idea of custom wedding guestbook; the idea is that the guestbook album showcases a couple’s engagement images, but also has blank space for wedding guests to sign and leave little notes! These kinds of albums are pretty much the ultimate wedding guestbook; they make for the perfect coffee table book and I absolutely wish John & I had one like this from our wedding!
So, I’m very proud to share my first ever guestbook album design, for one seriously wonderful couple, Carolyn & Scott! This album is a 20-page 8″x8″ album with hinged pages (see the image captions below to find out what that means!). If you’re interested in adding a customized wedding guestbook album to your wedding collection, just let me know at: courtney[at]courtneyclarke[dot]com
The “shoe shot” was one of Carolyn’s favourite from her engagement session and she requested it be on the front (and back!) cover!
One of the greatest features of the wedding guestbook albums is that the pages are hinged, meaning they sit completely flat when opened and images can continue right across a two-page span! This makes it super easy for guests to sign—no more fighting with pages to make them sit right!OK, album spreads aren’t the easiest to photograph, so I went for one “pose” and worked a few of the pages!I can’t wait to design another album soon; if you love your engagement images, show them off! I also ordered a studio sample with this album, so if you’d like to see in person, let me know!
